The Ministry of Post and Telecommunications announces the organization of the second edition of the national competition for the development of mobile phone software and applications for the benefit of people with special needs under the title “Development of mobile phone software and applications to deal with sign language for people with hearing disabilities”. The Ministry of Post and Telecommunications announces the organization of the second edition of the national competition for the development of mobile phone software and applications for the benefit of people with special needs under the title “Development of mobile phone software and applications to deal with sign language for people with hearing disabilities”. The aim of this edition is to contribute to facilitating the teaching and learning of sign language, strengthening the linguistic identity of the deaf, and raising awareness of the importance of this language for the group of people with hearing disabilities, as well as strengthening their integration into the information society. As well as supporting innovations in the field of information and communication technologies, while encouraging project holders in the field of sign language software as a communication tool and a means of communication for persons with hearing disabilities.

Competition topics:
– Applications for translation and simultaneous translation of sign language, converting it into text, and converting text into a sign language that is understood by people with hearing disabilities.
-Converting sign language to spoken voice and spoken voice to sign language.
-Various educational applications that contribute to teaching sign language.

The best project is selected by a specialized committee that evaluates the submitted projects to come up with effective practical solutions capable of meeting the requirements of people with special needs.

The announcement of the results of the competition will be on May 17, 2022, coinciding with the celebrations of the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day.
